Procedures such as those stipulated in American Society of Mechanical Engineers Standard for Manually Lever Operated Hoists (ASME B30.21-2005), The Hook International Inc. Maintenance and Operation Manual and warning labels on the hoist it self. Procedures include at a minimum: Training the employees in the proper use of the hoist. Ensuring the hoist is used only for the purpose for which it was intended and designed. Using the hoist only where the load, hoist unit and anchor point form a straight line.
