Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to hazards associated with amputation due to unguarded conveyor systems: a) On or about February 10, 2011, and at times prior, employees were exposed to injury in that, the guards for the conveyor systems on the following equipment was inadequate or missing: 1) F&E Greenwood press. 2) Coater machine. 3) Bobst printing & cutting machine. 4) McKinley dye cutter machine. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is the installation of guards on the conveyor systems. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").
