Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment or a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries while operating powered industrial trucks without wearing seatbelts: a)On or about January 24, 2011, employees were exposed to injuries when operating forklifts without wearing seatbelts. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazardous condition would be to train or re-train forklift operators, as well as supervisors, that seatbelts are to be fastened while operating forklifts. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").
