Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling approximately 24' from a personnel platform elevated by a rough terrain forklift truck. On or about December 07, 2010 and times thereto at a construction site located at 1970 West 6th Street, Waldron, Arkansas an employee was exposed to falling approximately 24' from a personnel platform that was supported by a telescoping rough terrain fork lift (RTFL). The employee was attaching a 26' x 10" "C" channel on the NW corner of the field house. The personnel platform the employee was working from measured 12' wide and 4' deep. The width of the RTFL was 8', which caused the platform to be 14" too wide on each side. The extra width could cause the lift to become off balanced and subsequently tip over. Feasible abatement methods could include but are not limited to: 1. A traditional scaffolding system could be erected which would allow safe access to the work area. 2. An aerial lift vehicle rated and designed for this type of work. Disclaimers: The employer is not limited to the abatement methods suggested by OSHA. The methods explained are general and may not be effective in all cases. The employer is responsible for selecting and carrying out an appropriate abatement method.nt

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from a height of approximately 24' while working from a personnel platform elevated by a rough terrain forklift truck. On or about December 07, 2010 and times thereto at a construction site located at 1970 West 6th Street, Waldron, Arkansas an employee was exposed to falling approximately 24' from a personnel platform that was supported by a telescoping rough terrain fork lift (RTFL). The employee was attaching a 26' x 10" "C" channel on the NW corner of the field house. The employee that was working from the platform did not have controls in the platform and could not let himself down in the event of an emergency. The operator of the RTFL was not at the controls and the wheels were not blocked to prevent the RTFL from rolling and possibly tipping over causing the employee to fall. Feasible abatement methods could include but are not limited to: 1. A traditional scaffolding system could be erected which would allow safe access to the work area. 2. An aerial lift vehicle rated and designed for this type of work. Disclaimers: The employer is not limited to the abatement methods suggested by OSHA.
