Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees in that employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard: a. On or about 01/14/11 - Maintenance shop, the hook on the underhung hoist was missing the safety latch. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to comply with the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Standard, ASME B30.11-1998, Monorails and Underhung Cranes, Section 11-2.1.3.3, Adjustment, Repair, Replacements.
