Condition:Employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed/struck-by
the
rotating superstructure of the Caterpillar 321C excavator while cutting 12
inch water main pipe.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to install a barricade
around the side and rear portion of the excavator to eliminate employee
exposure to the recognized hazard
stated in the Safety Manual for the Caterpillar 321C excavator.
