North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina:  The employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that an employee was exposed
to struck-by chain saw hazards:
a)arboricultural jobsite, 3000 Mooresville Road, Salisbury,
NC, the arborist in the bucket-truck operated his
chainsaw with one hand to cut tree limbs.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method
to correct this hazard is for the arborist to move closer to the
tree limbs to be cut so that the arborist is in position to operate
the chainsaw with two hands.
REFERENCE:  AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD INSTITUTE (ANSI) Z133.1-
2006, Safety Requirements for Arboricultural Operations, Chain
Saws, 6.3.7:  When operating a chainsaw, the arborist or other
worker shall hold the saw firmly with both hands, keeping the
thumbs and fingers wrapped around the handle."

without a chain catcher to buck limbs on the ground.

to correct this hazard is for the employer to install a chain
catcher on the saw.

Your chainsaw is equipped with a chain catcher.  It is designed to
reduce the risk of personal injury in the event of a thrown or
broken chain.  From time to time, the catcher may be damaged or
removed.  To reduce the risk of personal injury: DO NOT OPERATE A
CHAINSAW WITH A DAMAGED OR MISSING CHAIN CATCHER.
