Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to fall and crushed by hazards while riding a
mobile conveyor:
a)On or about November 19, 2010 employees were exposed to fall and caught
in
hazards while riding a conveyor to gain access to scrap materials to free
them
from sticking on conveyor.
Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to
use controls to
stop the moving conveyor before accessing it to free materials and follow
ASME B20.1-1996
Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment, which prohibits
riding conveyors.
Abatement Note:  Abatement certification is required for this item.
