Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of amputation or lacerations while cutting wood boards with a circular saw and putting hands and legs in the path of the cutting blade. a. On or about 11/09/2010. 1005 Josephine St., Lakeland Fl 33815 - Employees utilizing a circular saw were exposed to amputation hazards in that, a work or cutting surface was not provided. Among other methods, two feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Use a portable work horse and clamps to hold the work pieces in place. 2) Use a portable work bench and clamps to hold the work pieces in place at the ground level and hoist the cut work pieces to the roof.
