Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards associated with unsafe connection to a lifeline: a) For the jobsite at 8857 N 56th St., Temple Terrace, FL, as observed on or about 11/12/2010: knots were tied in a vertical lifeline to which employees were connected. These knots served as the connection point for employees. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to comply with ANSI A10.32-2004, Section 3.7.3, which states: "Knots are not allowed in lifelines, lanyards or other direct- impact components".
