Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with fire and explosions from: Location: Jobsite Employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards where a hand held propane heating torch was left burning un-attended and adjacent to a large propane tank. A feasable means of abating this hazard is for the company to develop an enforcible policy to prohibit employees from leaving lit hand held propane heaters. Another feasable means of abating this hazard is to utilize alternative heating devices to prevent water sources from freezing.ve
