Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards when using automotive hydraulic lifts. a) Establishment The employer did not have an automotive lift inspection program. Violation observed on or about 01/11/2011. Among other methods, all of the following are feasible and acceptable methods of abatement: 1. Establish a periodic qualified inspection procedure in accordance with ANSI/ALI ALOIM:2008 Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection & Maintenance, Section 5.1. 2. Train employees responsible for inspections in accordance with ANSI/ALI ALOIM:2008 Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection & Maintenance, Section 5.3. 3. Maintain inspection documentation in accordance with ANSI/ALI ALOIM:2008 Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection & Maintenance, Section 5.4.
