Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Roe House: On or about June 28, 2011 and at times prior thereto, the roe agitators were not equipped with a means to readily shut down the rotating vertical shaft. This condition exposed employees to caught-in hazards while performing roe-skimming tasks. Among other methods, a means of correcting the hazard would be to equip each agitator with a readily accessible stop button that the employee could reach.
