are exposed to moving machine parts while operating a foot operated
machine without a foot
pedal guard:
(a)Chop Saw Area: An instance of this violation was most recently observed
on
February 1, 2011, where employees were exposed to unintended operation of
the Chop Saw, no s/n, due to an unguarded foot pedal.
ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement
method
is that the employer must guard/protect the foot operated control device
to prevent
inadvertent operation of the machine due to falling or moving objects
making contact with
from unintended operation by accidentally stepping onto the foot control.
