Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:2/15/11 Location:Auto Center Bay #3 Condition:Employees were installing and removing batteries containing sulfuric acid, a corrosive, where were non-plumbed eyewash station was inaccessible to employees due to being blocked by two 55 gallon drums. Among other methods, one feasible method of abatement is to ensure that the self contained eyewash station fixture location is not hindered with obstructions in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z358.1-2009, Standard for Emergency Eyewashes and Shower Equipment. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
