Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:On or About 03/01/11 Location:Upper Assembly Area Equipment:Durable Mecco Duralase Pulsed Fiber Laser, Model #DLF-20, Class 4 Condition:An employee was exposed to thermal injuries while operating a Class 4 laser without an interlocked protective housing or a designated laser safety officer to control laser hazards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to designate a laser safety officer and install an interlocked protective housing in accordance with American National Standards Institute publication, ANSI Z136.1-2000. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
