Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to being caught under and struck-by a vehicle elevated on vehicle support stands: a)Auto Slab # 1: On or about March 24, 2011 and prior to, the employer exposed employees to struck-by hazards while working under a vehicle supported by unmarked and unrated vehicle support stands. Feasible and acceptable methods of abatement to correct this hazard include, but are not limited to the following: 1)Conform to the requirements of ASME PALD-2009 Part 4-2.7 Proof Load- All vehicle support stands shall be capable of performing the proof load test of para. 4-4.1.2 with a load of 200% of rated capacity 2)Conform to the requirements of ASME PALD-2009 Part 4-3.1 Safety Markings- Safety markings shall conform to the ANSI Z535 series of standards. (a)Study, understand, and follow all instructions before operating this device. (b)Do not exceed rated capacity. (c)Use only on hard level surface. (d)Center load on saddle. (e)Use as matched pair only.
