place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
On or about 12/29/11, at the A1 Total Property Maintenance Inc. jobsite,
the kettle operator was
exposed to an 8 hour time-weighted average (TWA) of 0.929 mg/m3 for a
sampling time of 433
minutes, assuming zero for the remaining time.
Among other methods of abatement, a feasible and acceptable method to
correct this hazard is:
a) Provide adequate respiratory protection.
b) Placing the kettle where the operator and other workers will be least
exposed to the fumes,
such as downwind from the workers.
c) Placing the kettle positioned with the inside of the lid facing away
from
the building.
d) Follow the guidelines provided by the National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health
(NIOSH) Publication No. 2003-112.
PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF  ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS
VIOLATION.
