Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Location - 18 Washington Square, Salem, MA 01970: On or about 03/29/11, an employee was exposed to being struck by falling construction debris when cleaning the ladies public restroom in the Hawthorne Hotel. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to close off the ladies public restroom until construction operations above the restroom are completed.
