Health Act of North Carolina:  The
employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment
and a place of employment free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to: caught by rotating parts:
a) Shop production areas - the"Westward" and"Craftsman"13 inch drill
presses were to de-burr
small parts by an "off hand" technique with gloves and was not fastened or
secured to the work
table as required.
Abatement note: one means of abatement would be to build a fastening jig
where parts could be
secured to the work table and the press pulled down into position by the
provided feed handle.
