North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards: a) Maintenance shop located at 1280 Macedonia Road Spring Hope, NC 27882 - Mechanic supervisor welded on the rim of an 8100 John Deere tractor while the inflated tire was mounted on the rim; the sidewall separated forcefully from the tire tread and struck the mechanic; the force of the explosion caused serious injury to the mechanic and another employee in the maintenance shop. Abatement Notice: Among others, one feasible and acceptable means of abating this violation is to not weld rims, but have the rim replaced by qualified trained personnel.
