Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by or caught-in hazards: a)Line 1: On or about June 13, 2011, the employer failed to ensure there was an effective means in place for an emergency shut down of the Line 1 conveyor. The emergency stop was not operational and the operators had to walk a distance of approximately 10 feet away to disengage the Square D box in order to stop the line. A feasible and effective means of abatement would include the replacement or repair of the emergency stop that was provided by the manufacturer of the equipment.er
