Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause serious physical harm to his employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck-by: (a)On or about 04/25/2011 - On the Main Plant Floor, in the Tear Down/Rebuild Area, loads being moved and/or suspended by slings were not hitched to provide control of the load. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to ensure that the sling and the load are able to be controlled as specified in AMSE B30.9-2010, Slings - Safety Standard for Cableways, Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Hooks, Jacks, and Slings. Specifically; paragraph 9-5.10.4(c) which states, "the sling shall be hitched in a manner providing control of the load".l
