Employees were required to operate unguarded press brakes. As an
alternative to traditional
guarding or guarding devices, the employer had not developed and
implemented a written
operator safe distance program. On or about 05/03/2011.
ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible abatement method would be to develop and
implement a
safe distance program that complies with the requirements of ANSI
B11.3-1982 and OSHA
Directive CPL 2-1.25.
NOTE:  THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION
FOR THIS ITEM.  FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL
PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
