Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At october 31, 2010 in the Burger King located in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico Road # 3 Km 23.5; Employees were exposed to serious injuries such as frostbite and hypothermia caused by the exposure to lower temperatures. It was observed employees getting merchandise from a refrigerator located in the back of store that the inside door's handle was missing to open the door from inside. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to repair or reinstall handles to the refrigerator to open the door from inside to open the door from inside or remove secure of outside of the door. Hazard: Employees can be locked within the refrigerator. El 31 de octubre de 2010 en el Burger King localizado en Rio Grande Puerto Rico en la carretera # 3 KM 23.5; Empleados estaban expuestos a lesiones serias tales como congelacion e hipotermia causado por la exposicion a bajas temperaturas. Se observo a empleados tomando mercancia de una nevera localizada en la parte trasera de la tienda que le faltaba la perilla interna para poder abrir la puerta desde adentro. Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible para corregir este riesgo es reparar o reinstalar la perilla de la nevera para abrir la puerta desde el interior o remover seguro de la parte de afuera de la puerta. Riesgo: Empleados pueden quedar atrapados dentro de la nevera.
