Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to being struck by falling objects while cutting and removing cast iron sections of a boiler. One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to secure the sections of the boiler sections in place before cutting each section loose. BOYS & GIRLS CLUB, 365 LINDELL AVE., LEOMINSTER, MA. 01453: AN EMPLOYEE WAS STRUCK BY A SECTION OF CAST IRON BOILER AFTER THE PARTIALLY CUT SECTION COLLAPSED.
