Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employees were exposed to crushing and struck by hazards from foot treadles that were not guarded from falling, moving objects or unintended operations: a.On 4/20/2011, the Chicago Dreis & Krump Press Brake; b.On 5/6/11, the Besco-Truebend/F.J. Edwards Ltd., Press Brake, Model 40/120, located on the workroom floor. A feasible means of abatement would be to follow the American National Standards Institute standard ANSI B11.3 - 2002 Power Press Brakes, "Safety Requirements for Power Press Brakes", Section 6.10.3 "Unintended actuation of press brake by foot treadle."
