Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Jobsite, 634 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA: On or about May 12, 2011, employees did not inspect a fiberglass step ladder before use, used the top step of a fiberglass step ladder to get up to/down from the roof. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to abate these concerns would be to comply with the precepts found in the American National Standards Institute Standard (ANSI) for Portable Reinforced Plastics Safety Requirements, ANSI 14.5, 2007 edition, as well as to comply with the employer's tool box on ladder safety.
