Condition:Employees were exposed to potential dust explosions and fire
hazards from the ignition
of paper dust in the cyclone and enclosureless collector that was
operating at
approximately 10,000 cubic feet per minute, and located inside.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would
be to comply with guidelines
outlined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 654 Standard
for the Prevention of Fire and Dust
Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible
Particulate Solids.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.)
is required for this item.
