Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazard: a) Establishment - General Yard Area, 35 Duffield Avenue, Jersey City, NJ: Untrained employees were performing body/frame work on a Mack Vehicle without using proper equipment, thereby exposing employees to the hazard of being crushed between two vehicles. Violation occurred on or about 6/15/2011. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to send vehicles in need of repair and/or body work to an automotive repair facility.
