Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to a hazard of being struck by the rear swing area
of a moving forklift
truck.
The employer did not ensure that employees stand clear of the rear swing
area of a Hoist
Forklift Truck (55 Tons) while moving a 16-foot wooden spool of fiberglass
pipe to holding
area.
Among other feasible means of abatement to correct the identified hazard,
one (1) feasible and
acceptable method would be to enforce the policy of company which is that
employees while
spotting for the forklift driver are prohibited to move out of sight of
the driver until the forklift
has come to a complete stop which would ensure a safe process to move
heavy loads such as the
16 and 20 foot spools of pipe. Two(2),The American Society of Mechanical
