General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: On or about June 23, 2011, two employees were performing tree trimming operations up to approximately 25 feet high without two means of fall protection, exposing the employees to a fall hazard. Among other feasible and acceptable means of abatement, one method of abatement would be to follow the ANSI Z133.1-2006 fall protection requirements listed in Sections 8.1.18 and 8.1.19. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that each employee performing tree trimming operations within the trees are provided and utilizing two means of fall protection.
