Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: a)On or about January 4, 2012, and times prior thereto, employees were not utilizing mobile ladder platforms properly in that; employees were decending the ladder platform with loads in their arms face forward. Employee(s) exposed to a fall hazard. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct the hazards are: The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard ANSI-ASC A14.7-2006, Mobile Ladders Stands and Mobile Ladder Platforms in section 6.10: The user shall face the steps when ascending or descending a unit. Employees shall be instructed by their employer in the proper use of the mobile ladder stands and ladder stand platforms. They shall also be required to read and understand the user instructions before being allowed to use any unit. Section 8.2.1, the owner shall adhere to the manufacturer's maintenance instructions to maintain the quality and serviceability of the unit.
