Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: a) Warehouse trailer unloading area During unloading of a trailer truck, a product box is used to elevate employees to reach stacked boxes exposing employees to fall hazards. Violation disclosed on or about 08/15/2011. Among other methods, all of the following are feasible and acceptable methods of abatement: 1) Provide a work platform or ladder which complies with 29CFR1910 Subpart D Walking- Working Surfaces, enabling employees to safely access out of reach materials. 2) Develop, implement and train employees on procedures for safe unloading of cargo and hazards associated.
