North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to carbon monoxide (CO) above the ceiling level of 200 parts per million carbon monoxide per million parts of air (ppm): a)production area, industrial trucks Clark Type D Model 355134635 and TCM Type G Model 259H emission of carbon monoxide were 2622 and 420 ppm, respectively. Employees were exposed to the concentrations. These levels exceeded the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health ceiling level of 200 ppm. Note: The ceiling level places a definite boundary that the exposure concentration should not be permitted to exceed. An abatement measure that could be implemented to reduce the emissions can include regularly servicing the industrial trucks and including emissions as one of the diagnostic tests. Also, CO monitors can be placed in the facility as a precautionary measure to monitor levels in the facility.nary
