Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:On or About 09/26/11 Location:Interior of Building Condition:Metal plate-connected wood trusses were not braced with temporary bracing during installation in accordance with Building Component Safety Information bulletin BCSI 1-03 Guide to Good Practice for Handling, Installing & Bracing of Metal Plate- Connected Wood Trusses. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to install temporary bracing on metal plate connected wood trusses as the installation progresses, in accordance with Building Component Safety Information Bulletin (BCSI) 1-03 Guide to Good Practice for Handling, Installing & Bracing of Metal Condition:Metal plate-connected wood trusses 42 feet long, weighing 306.8 pounds each, were hoisted using a single 1/2 inch by 8 feet long sling in a choker, instead of two slings and two points of attachment away from the peak of the metal plate-connected wood trusses. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to pick metal plate connected wood trusses in accordance with Building Component Safety Information Bulletin (BCSI) 1-03 Guide to Good Practice for Handling, Installing & Bracing of Metal Plate-Connected Wood Trusses. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
