General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to an employee in that employees were exposed to hazardous conditions when the employee was exposed to fall hazards: a) Throughout facility : An employee was exposed to a fall hazard when working from a Keller 77 Series fiberglass ladder model 77681 that had missing feet and damaged back and front rungs, on or about 7/8/11. One feasible and useful method of abatement would be to follow ANSI A14.5 section 9.4.1. This standard requires that the ladder be removed from service and discard or repaired by a competent mechanic.
