Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck by hazard. On or about 01/20/12, at 1940 Highway 15 S. Greensboro, Ga; employees were exposed to struck-by hazards where the compressed air used for equipment in the facility was being transported at 154 p.s.i. through PVC pipes. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: Only use material with shatter resistance properties. (Reference Plastic Pipe Institute document) No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
