Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to a fall hazard:
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO
CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS:
At jobsite located west of HWY 24 & 281, Osborne, KS, an employee engaged
in framing was
elevated by standing on the forklift tines, without having the safety
platform installed and
secured to the forklift tines, exposing the employee to a fall of
approximately 12' to the ground
below.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO
CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: Provide a personnel platform, which complies with
ANSI/ITSDF B56.6-2005 and ensure that it is secure to the lifting carriage
and forks.
29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the
above violation is
completed.
