Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recogn ized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) shop area - Charlotte 3/4" and 1" PVC piping was used in exposed above ground locations to transport compressed air supplied at 125psi , observed on or about 10/26/11. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptabl e means of abatement would be to replace PVC piping and fittings with metal pipi ng and fittings, which are rated to transport compressed air in exposed above gr ound locations.
