Condition:Employees working with a sewer cleaning hose and nozzle were
exposed to struck by
hazards due to using a "home-made" nozzle, not installing the "tiger
tail", and not
using a "skid", per the manufacturer's requirements.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement method
to correct this hazard is to use
the manufacturer's provided nozzles, "tiger tail" and "skid" to prevent
the nozzle and hose assembly from
propelling backwards towards the operator.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.)
is required for this item.
