Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 04/16/2012, at N. Pine Island Rd. & NW 10th Ct. in the city of Sunrise, FL; an employee was engaged in landscaping work on top of a SCAG Turf Tiger mower which was not being use for its intended use, exposing employee to fall hazard and being run over by the mower. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to prohibit employees from riding or standing on top of the mower as mentioned in the operator's manual. NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT MUST BE SUBMITTED FOR THIS ITEM.
