Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:03/21/13 Location:Production area Condition:A dust collection system conveyed wood dust from woodworking equipment to an outside dust collector where deficiencies included, but were not limited to: sections of ductwork contained PVC piping and plastic, corrugated tubing; the dust collection system was not properly bonded and grounded; a process hazard analysis of the facility and equipment had not been performed. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct these hazards include complying with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 664, "Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities" as it applies to your operations and equipment including, but not limited to, performing a process analysis in accordance with Section 4.2 and ensuring that ductwork is installed and operated in accordance with Section 8.2.2.2.1. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
