North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: a)facility, service bay - employee(s) worked under, near, and adjacent to a single pedestal hydraulic automotive lift (no data available) which was not provided with automatic mechanical locking devices. ABATEMENT NOTE: 1)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards is to provide automatic locking devices Reference:Hazards recognized and addresses in the industry standard Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for the Construction, Care, and Use, ANSI/ALI B153.1, section 4.1.11.

North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: a)facility, service bay - employee(s) worked under, near, and adjacent to a single pedestal hydraulic automotive lift (no data available) which was not provided with markings to identify the manufacturer's name, rated load capacity, model, and serial number. b)facility, service bay - employee(s) worked under, near, and adjacent to a single pedestal hydraulic automotive lift (no data available) and a Vector Wheel Tronic, model 7144V, serial number T8-10008, 8,000 pound capacity, which were not provided with markings to identify the physical hazards in the work area. ABATEMENT NOTE: 1)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards is to mark the physical hazards under and around the lift. Reference:Hazards recognized and addresses in the industry standard Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for the Construction, Care, and Use, ANSI/ALI B153.1, sections 6.2, 6.6 and Safety Color Code for Marking Physical Hazards, ANSI Z53.1, section 6.2.

The lift was not provided with automatic locking devices. b)facility, service bay - the employer did not supply and display operating instructions for employee(s) who worked under, near, and adjacent to a single pedestal hydraulic automotive lift (no data available) and a Vector Wheel Tronic, model 7144V, serial number T8-10008, 8,000 pound capacity, automotive lift. c)facility, service bay - the employer did not provide safe operator training for employee(s) who worked under, near, and adjacent to a single pedestal hydraulic automotive lift (no data available) and a Vector Wheel Tronic, model 7144V, serial number T8-10008, 8,000 pound capacity, automotive lift. d)facility, service bay - employee(s) worked under, near, and adjacent to a single pedestal hydraulic automotive lift (no data available) and a Vector Wheel Tronic, model 7144V, serial number T8-10008, 8,000 pound capacity, automotive lift which were not the subject of periodic inspections. ABATEMENT NOTE: 1)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards is to: a)perform repairs and maintenance to the lifts b)obtain and display safe operating procedures near the lifts c)train operators in the safe operation of the lifts d)perform periodic inspections to ensure the lifts are maintained in a safe condition.
