Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:12/20/12 Location:Concrete Mixing Area Condition:The employer provided a 32 ounce squeeze bottle of eyewash solution in lieu of a hands-free automatic eyewash station with at least 15 minutes of automatic flow of eyewash solution where an employee uses a mechanical mixer to mix Essroc portland cement, a corrosive, having a pH of 12.5. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to provide a hands-free, automatic eyewash station in accordance with American National Standards Institute ANSI Z358.1- 2009 requirements.
