Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:On or About 03/06/13 Location:4734 Nail of the Fly Automated Pallet Repair Line Condition:Employees operating pneumatic nail guns to repair pallets were not trained in safe operating procedures prior to operating the nail guns. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to comply with the manufacturer's operating and maintenance manual, page #4 Safety Instructions, Item #1 "Before using the tool, read carefully and understand the following safety instructions", #9 "Do not touch the trigger unless you intend to drive a fastener" and #13 "Keep hands and body away from the dishcharge outlet". Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
