North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm: a)facility, repair shop - preventative maintenance schedule was not established for employees working under, near, or adjacent to hydraulic lifts, such as a Western (#15), model WL090, 9,000 lbs capacity; and Grand (#6), model TR-5L, s/n 9405047-E, 12,000 lbs capacity, in performance of maintenance activities. ABATEMENT NOTE: 1)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards is to: to establish a preventative maintenance schedule for the hydraulic lifts. Reference: Hazards recognized and addresses in the American Lift Institute, Standard for Automatic Lifts-Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection and Maintenance, ANSI/ALOIM-2000, section 6, paragraph 6.1.1.
