North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and
Health Act of North Carolina:  The
employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment
and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees were exposed to muzzle blast and/or
projectiles:
a)  Ghost Town in the Sky--Three real 45 caliber revolvers and two real 12
gauge double
barrel shotguns, that were capable of firing live ammunition,
were being used to fire blank ammunition during the staged
gunfights.
Abatement Note:  One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among
others,
to correct this hazard is:
Replace or modify the three real revolvers and the two real shotguns with
firearms capable of firing blank ammunition only.
b)  Ghost Town in the Sky--The triggers had been removed from all of the
revolvers, and
they were being fired by pulling the hammers back and releasing
them to fire the guns.
Abatement Note:  One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among
others,
to correct this hazard is:
Use only revolvers that have triggers installed, so that the revolvers
cannot be
fired simply by pulling the hammers back with the thumb and releasing the
hammers.
