North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: a)facility, service bays - where the employer failed to provide adequate lighting for employees performing vehicle maintenance on Medium Tactical Vehicle replacement (MTVR) also known as "7-ton" with an average illumination of 10 - 20 foot candles. Reference:American National Standard Institute (ANSI) /Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) ANSI/IESNA RP-7-01 Recommended Practice on Industrial Lighting, Table A2-1 Garages-service Feasible abatement methods, among others, to correct this hazard are, but not limited to: a)Install additional fixed lighting to provide adequate lighting in accordance with ANSI/IESNA. 1.Repairs minimum requirement of 75 foot candles. 2.Active traffic areas minimum requirement of 15 foot candles.
