North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to Methylene Chloride. a)facility, polymerization area - where the employer did not provide tags or labels on the valves and piping of the Methylene Chloride (R-30) refrigeration (Brine) system to distinguish them from the process piping and valves. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is the following: Label pipes and valves in accordance with ANSI A13.1 Scheme for Identification of piping systems. Reference: ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 15-2004, Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems, Section 9.12.6.
